Contingency Planning for Business Continuity
As
concern grows over widespread dependence on computers and telecommunications,
organizations must maintain effective plans for what they will do
in case of system interruptions. ITSM helps classify scenarios
in terms of likelihood and severity, which often reduces the
complexity of the planning effort. The plan will consider not
just hardware assets, but also the need to have alternative work locations
and, sometimes, backup personnel. In cases where there is little
tolerance for downtime, ITSM can help design technically advanced
backup systems. If necessary, we will introduce suppliers who
offer offsite backup capabilities.
Development of Effective Teams
The
people who provide day-to-day technical support may be underperforming
due to conflicting priorities, a lack of skills, or insufficient guidance.
ITSM provides leadership to help the team deliver business improvement
projects. Working as part of the team allows us to diagnose
needs. Tasks in improving team effectiveness can include updating
role descriptions, creating individual development plans, and implementing
a hiring plan. The IT organization's roadmap should be as forward-looking
as the technology roadmap, to maximize retention of key skills.
For organizations with small IT budgets, or who are in a search for a permanent IT leader, we offer "retained services."
In this arrangement, we provide a specified amount of IT management time per week to guide the in-house staff and maintain IT service levels, for as long as you need us. A fixed monthly charge allows you budget control, while adding just the amount of IT oversight that you need.
